Video Board GNF (News)

All In: Reno Aces and Reno 1868 FC bringing larger video displays to Greater Nevada Field
Display upgrades are part of $1.1 million in privately funded improvements

RENO – Greater Nevada Field will feature significant improvements in 2017, including a new high-definition video board and ‘monster display’ ahead of the Reno Aces and Reno 1868 FC regular seasons, both clubs announced today.

The displays will be designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D. The new HD video board will replace the previous display, coming in three times larger than the original board. The new video board will measure more than 37 feet high by 45.5 feet wide. New to Greater Nevada Field will be a long monster display directly underneath the main video board, running along the left-field wall. The monster display will measure more than 7 feet high by 205 feet wide.

Both displays will feature a 15HD pixel layout to provide crisp, clear imagery with wide angle viewing to appeal to every seat at Greater Nevada Field.

“Each year we focus on how to build a greater experience for our community,” said Aces and 1868 FC president Eric Edelstein. “I’m proud that the Simon Family has shared this vision and agreed to fund these improvements for the betterment of Greater Nevada Field and all of Northern Nevada.”

Both displays feature variable content zoning, meaning the displays can each show one large image or be sectioned into multiple zones to show a variety of live video, instant replays, statistics, animations and sponsorship messages.

“This is an exciting project as the Reno Aces and Reno 1868 FC look to introduce a large, unique display to their outfield,” said Brady Jacobsen, Daktronics sales representative. “This innovative application will make for a really engaging presentation that really can’t be found anywhere else. We’re looking forward to seeing the displays installed and making an impact this year and for years to come.”

The Simon Family will provide the funding for the overall cost for both video board displays, estimated at $1.1 million.

Reno 1868 FC becomes top affiliate for San Jose Earthquakes!

RENO – Reno 1868 FC and Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes came to terms on a two-year affiliation beginning in 2017, both teams announced today. With the affiliation, Reno becomes the sole domestic professional affiliate serving San Jose.

The affiliation announcement comes after Reno 1868 FC revealed the following over the previous nine months: an official name, wordmark, colors, crest, adidas® partnership and most recently, the 2017 home kit featuring Nevada Cobalt Blue as the primary color.

“We are thrilled to join sides with one of the charter members of MLS in San Jose,” said Reno 1868 FC President Eric Edelstein. “We look forward to seeing talented players from the first team and seeing the next generation of Earthquakes players, while also having our fan base learn and grow from the Quakes’ passionate supporters.”

“I am pleased at the progress that we have seen from Reno since the franchise was introduced as an expansion USL team late last year,” said Jake Edwards, President of the USL. “Led by world-class ownership in Herb Simon and a tremendous management team, Reno 1868 FC has done a wonderful job in promoting its team and engaging its followers with announcements and events that introduced team colors, its crest and uniform to hosting both a Liverpool U-21 friendly and a neutral-site USL game. Reno 1868 FC Unveils Team Colors

RENO – Reno 1868 FC unveiled its official crest during a special ceremony at halftime of tonight’s friendly between Liverpool FC U21s and Sacramento Republic FC at Greater Nevada Field.

The crest, created by Brandiose, mixes Reno 1868 FC’s official colors – Nevada Cobalt Blue, light gold and silver grey – with the iconic Truckee River and Sierra Nevada mountains taking precedence over the traditional outlook of Reno as a gambling hub.

“We are extremely excited to continue to unveil our club’s identity based on what our fans have told us they want to see,” said Reno 1868 FC president Eric Edelstein. “This crest will truly resonate with not only our growing fan base, but the entire community as well.”

The crest unveiling comes fresh off the announcement of a two-year partnership Reno 1868 FC and adidas® came to terms with on Monday. adidas® will be the primary brand of merchandise available to Reno 1868 FC fans in the official team shop at Greater Nevada Field, along with being 1868 FC’s official kit provider.

The uniform and coaching staff will be announced at a later date. For questions, or to discuss special interview or photograph needs, contact Cheyne Reiter at (775) 334-7089 or creiter@renoaces.com.

Opening Night festivities for April 7

The Reno Aces Baseball Club announced their Opening Night festivities today, and the exciting lineup is led by a ceremonial first pitch and two autograph sessions from television personality Johnny Bananas who starred on MTV’s The Challenge and The Real World, along with a weather guarantee from third-year manager Phil Nevin.

The Aces are set to host the El Paso Chihuahuas for the 2016 season opener, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Greater Nevada Field.

Following Bananas’ first autograph session from 5:00-5:45 p.m., Eldorado Resort Casino’s Footloosethe Musical will take place on the field for a pre-game performance. At the conclusion, ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by Bananas and Greater Nevada Credit Union & Greater Nevada Mortgage President/CEO Wally Murray. A third ceremonial first pitch is set to take flight before being dropped to the catcher at home plate by a local drone from the University of Nevada UVA Search and Rescue Symposium. Bananas’ second autograph session is set for 6:15-6:35 p.m.

Additional pre-game festivities include a helicopter entrance by the Aces’ beloved mascot, Archie, thanks to Care Flight, a service of REMSA. During team introductions, players also will be accompanied by local Olympians from Special Olympics Nevada.

“After an extremely busy offseason focused on making the Aces experience even greater, we’re excited to reward our fans with a season-opening night they’ll never forget,” said Aces and Reno 1868 FC President Eric Edelstein. “We’re so excited to have baseball back, and Greater Nevada Field in 2016 will be the premier event experience in Northern Nevada.”

Nevin’s weather guarantee comes with lofty expectations and a rewarding outcome if the guarantee is not met. The third-year skipper promises – at the minimum – 60-degree temperatures. If his promise is not met, Nevin will buy each fan in attendance an Aces April ticket for games Sunday through Thursday.

“Warm temperatures or not, I’m excited about the team we’re going to have on the field,” said Nevin. “Our team should be very athletic and fun to watch, and I’m thrilled we get the opportunity to open the season at home in front of our great fans.”

Starting at just $79 each, plus applicable service fees, these exclusive passes include the best seats in the house, watching the final 20 minutes of rider rehearsals, as well as a chance to get up close and personal with the stars of Nitro Circus during an exclusive Q & A. Nitro Club pass holders will also receive a souvenir lanyard and electronically signed Nitro poster, as well as a chance to win cool Nitro swag.

“The initial response from the incredible Reno fan base has been overwhelming. We’re so happy we can give area fans a second opportunity to see our totally insane show,” says Michael Porra, Nitro Circus CEO and creative director. The positive economic impact the tour will generate also means Reno businesses can anticipate receiving a major boost with the show’s arrival drawing thousands of people to their cities. “Hotels, restaurants, bars and practically every other business in Reno will benefit when Nitro Circus Live is in town,” says Porra. “Through audience research we’ve seen that fans are blown away, saying it’s the most exciting show they’ve ever seen.
